Theatre Oyunevi

Theatre Oyunevi has been formed in Istanbul
in 1996. The members of the group had first come together during the staging
of B. Brecht 's "Man is Man " under the direction of Mahir Gunsiray. There
are people from different disciplines in the group, like actors: Mahir
Gunsiray, Taner Birsel, Ayse Selen, Sehsuvar Aktas, a dramaturg : Cetin
Sarikartal, Artists: Selim Birsel and Claude Leon and a composer Turgay
Erdener. The activity planned for the theatre season of 1998 -1999 was realised at a tent, under the facilities of 75th anniversary of the Republic, as the first step of the project of "touring Anatolia with a circus tent". The play prepared for this project was "Hikaye-i Don Kisot", a play Mahir Gunsiray and Cetin Sarıkartal adapted from Cervantes' novel "The Adventures of Don Quixote". In the theatre season of 1999-2000, Theatre Oyunevi took stage with a new play adapted from Franz Kafka: "In The Penal Colony". The play was a product of a group work both on the basis of the idea & the plays created on the stage.This play and "The Maids" staged on different stages. In the theatre season of 2000-2001,
the new play of Theatre Oyunevi,"The
Night Just Before the Forests" by B.Marie Koltes had taken place
after the 1st of January 2001 at ISM 2.KAT. "In the Penal Colony"
and "The Maids" had also performed during the season. A play
for the children "Elephant the Baby"
was another play Theatre Oyunevi had performed. Then, "The
Marriage" of Gogol have been staged after a 14-days rehearsal
at ISM 2. KAT. For the 2003-04 theatre season Theatre Oyunevi is staging a new play "Gavara" by Nihat Genc and Werner Schwab's play "DER REIZENDE REIGEN nach dem Reigen des REIZENDEN HERRN ARTHUR SCHNITZLER" which we will perform as "The Round of Pleasure". And also "Oblivion" and "A Marriage" will continue to be performed in return. The new play "Tol" has started in May 2005. "Tol" is an adaptation of a novel written by a very young writer Murat Uyurkulak. The performance had a premiere in Diyarbakır, then toured in south east of Turkey, cities as such Urfa-Viranşehir, Antakya. Now it is continuing in Istanbul. Werner Schwab's "The Round of Pleasure" awarded by "Theatre Awards of 2005" as "The Best Production" |
